Facing Pages is a reading app for language learners, on iPhone, iPad and Android. We built it to work without collecting information about you.
What we collect
Only a record of your subscription, described below. Facing Pages has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. We don’t collect your name, email, location, contacts or reading history.
What stays on your device
- Your language and level choices.
- The words you save while reading.
- Translations of stories, which are made on your device: by Apple’s translation feature on iPhone and iPad, and by Google’s ML Kit on Android. The story text is not sent to us.
- Read-aloud, which uses your device’s own voices.
Deleting the app deletes all of this.
Story updates
To get new stories and their photos, the app downloads them from our website. Like any website, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may briefly process your device’s IP address to deliver the files. We don’t use it to identify you.
On Android, the first time you read alongside a new language, the app downloads that language’s translation model from Google, the same way any download reaches your phone. After that, translation works offline.
Subscriptions
You pay through Apple or Google Play, and we never see your payment details. To keep track of subscriptions we use RevenueCat, a subscription service. The app asks RevenueCat whether your subscription is active using a random ID it makes up, and when you subscribe or restore a purchase it sends RevenueCat your purchase history from Apple or Google Play. The ID isn’t connected to your name, email, Apple ID or Google account, and the information isn’t used for advertising or tracking. You can read RevenueCat’s privacy policy.
Children
The stories are written to be suitable for all ages, and the app collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
